Robe Spots and Profiles have many similarities. They all have the same high-definition optics, totally homogenised light output with consistently high CRI values, and many features to both types of luminaire such as irises, prisms, colour, gobo and animation wheels. However, they differ in application.

Spots do not have a shutter system. Instead they are designed for texturing and optimising the actual beam or image projection through specifically designed gobo selections. Precise beam control is still possible utilising the iris and zoom to control the size. By combining and morphing the two wheels or dropping in the animation wheel, countless effects can be created which are ultimately variable by speed and focus.Profiles are designed for the ultimate in beam control. In addition to the same features included in spots, the heart of any profile is its shuttering system. Enabling these fixtures to be used either on or over the stage or front of house, Robe‘s four blade shuttering system, working on four separate planes, provides the finest and most precise framing possible.
