Technical production - lighting, sound and staging - for the installation as well as the main and amphitheater stage at the purpose-built entertainment venue was supplied by Lexington, Kentucky based Pyramid Productions and project managed by Tyler Morgan.

Pyramid has been involved in the Music Park’s events for the last seven years working for co-producers Silver Wrapper from Chicago and Purple Hat Productions from Florida.

In addition to the music line up on the stage, the audience was able to enjoy the “Spirit Lake” art installation which  transformed the lake and surrounding forest into a special ‘lit environment’ for the evening, embracing and highlighting the natural beauty and tranquility of the location.

This year Tyler wanted to ramp up the production values, so when Andrew’s design and spec for the lake area was being discussed, he suggested that BMFLs might be the perfect fixture!

The lake’s perimeter is surrounded by distinctive rows of tall skinny trees, which together with the glass-like surface of the water and sky … are used as surfaces for reflecting and absorbing the light work including gobo projections and texturing. Because of this a long throw fixture was essential.

"Having seen the BMFLs in action a few times and - apart from the sheer brightness of the units, I was also impressed with the versatility and feature set of the gobos, animation and the incredible punchy colors.  I knew they were the perfect fixture for this installation," said Tyler … and Andrew was more than pleased to try them.

The 12 x BMFLs were placed on the ground, located on a series of small jetties dotted around the lake, shooting across to opposite sides.

Programmed and controlled from a grandMA2 console their beams, gobos, animation wheels color washes and projection capabilities were all utilized to produce a beautiful and magical atmosphere around the lake.

Around 30 different complex – some with subtly undulating movement - looks were created and run on a loop from sundown until 5.00 a.m.

The punch and throw of the BMFLs stretched effortlessly across the lake. In the past they have used lesser spec' fixtures on this event, so this year’s show was a big leap in performance reported Tyler.

Pyramid Productions owns Robe LEDWash 300s and 600s and on this occasion, the BMFLs were cross-rented from Concert Lighting Design in Nashville. Their LEDWashes, purchased four years ago, have worked constantly and are still going strong, needing virtually nothing apart from routine maintenance.

Commenting on his perception of where the Robe brand is right now, Tyler stated, "The products are really bright, very reliable, exceptionally high quality and completely roadworthy" all attributes essential for a busy rental company.

Working closely with Andrew and Tyler on this project was lead lighting programmer Justin Casey, together with John Hollingshead and Brent Nixon who looked after the installation and daily maintenance.
